Your City, Your Story, Local Voices

BRUSSELS - Application form is now open for the new European Local Cross-Border Journalism grant programme which aims to strengthen local investigative journalism.

Journalismfund.eu officially launched its application form for the new European Local Cross-Border Journalism grant programme. This 1.3 million-euro grant programme will impact the journalism profession across the continent. It aims to support cross-border teams of professional journalists and/or news outlets to bring the locals to the European level as well as to local communities all over Europe.

Any local cross-border investigative teams of at least two professional journalists and/or local news can submit a proposal about any issues that concern and relate to Europe. The overall amount available is €600.000 but the total available amount per call to be distributed among all supported investigations will be around €100.000. Working time and expenses such as logistics, travel, insurance, access to legal support, access to technology and data sets, etc. will be covered under the grant programme.

What are we looking for? We are hungry for stories from your own backyard! We know that there are so many stories from every corner of the world waiting to be told and shared. Are there local issues that you could bring to life by comparing and contrasting with other local European communities that may be experiencing the same issues? We aim to spur more critical thinking about society’s pressing problems, increase the level of debate, and further foster civic engagement. The main aspect of this programme is the collaboration between different journalists from other local European regions to bring your stories to life and to expand your reach.
